Gemma helps clients navigate the litigation process and offers advice on dispute resolution matters. She specialises in debt recovery for a variety of clients including recruitment firms, debt collection agencies, and companies that supply goods and services. She provides tailored solutions to her clients, ranging from negotiating settlements, issuing letters of demand and Statutory Demands, to liquidation and bankruptcy proceedings when necessary.

In addition, Gemma also provides support to clients in preparing and defending claims in the Disputes Tribunal. This includes drafting legal submissions that helps the Disputes Tribunal referee comprehend a client’s case, as well as guiding clients in presenting their evidence in a clear and succinct manner.

Gemma brings a holistic approach to her work in litigation, drawing on her previous experience of over ten years in the areas of commercial, private client, and property law. She applies her commercial knowledge to assist clients in resolving disputes both personally and in their business.

Debt Recovery and Dispute Resolution
  • Offering debt recovery solutions for clients
  • Issuing letters of demand and Statutory Demands to debtors, negotiating settlements with debtors and/or their lawyers, and advising clients on debt recovery or dispute resolution options
Litigation and Dispute Resolution
  • Assisting with case management and trial preparation for High Court proceedings relating to shareholder dispute matters
  • Drafting District Court proceedings for plaintiff clients, handling case management of the proceeding with the courts and defendant’s counsel, and all correspondence with clients regarding evidence/discovery and procedural matters
Dispute Resolution
  • Advising and assisting clients who have a matter that meets the requirements of being heard in the Disputes Tribunal relating to goods and services provided but not paid for, involving contractual and statutory disputes
  • Guiding clients through the Disputes Tribunal procedure and claim forms including legal submissions on relevant case law and legislation to assist the clients when they appear and present their case in front of the referee
