To Special Counsel

  • Helen Pryde, Auckland, Employment
    An experienced employment and health and safety lawyer, Helen has expertise across all legal issues relating to health and safety and employment, including WorkSafe investigations and prosecutions, performance management, disciplinary matters and processes (with a particular expertise where issues may overlap with criminal law), restructuring and redundancy, restraints of trade, medical incapacity, and dealing with personal grievances. Helen is also regularly engaged by employers to undertake independent investigations into workplace complaints. 
  • Tim Adams, Auckland, Commercial
    A property and property finance transaction expert, Tim has extensive experience advising institutional investors, developers, and corporates on all aspects of their real estate requirements. This includes commercial property acquisitions, residential and mixed-use development work and commercial leasing. He also is regularly instructed by banks, non-bank lenders and borrowers on property finance transactions and security arrangements.
  • Vanessa Ma, Auckland, Litigation
    With over 18 years in practice in the specialised area of insurance law, Vanessa has dedicated her career to representing major insurance companies in New Zealand. Her expertise encompasses fire and general, maritime, natural disaster claims, property, policy drafting and subrogated recovery actions. She provides comprehensive, efficient, and effective legal support to insurers. 

To Senior Associate

  • Emma Currie, Wellington, Litigation
    A commercial litigation and dispute resolution specialist, with particular expertise in insolvency, Emma acts for large companies, small businesses and private individuals. She advises on a broad range of litigation involving contractual claims, company law including shareholder disputes and directors’ duties, debt recovery, negligence claims, and construction disputes.
  • Joe Williams, Auckland, Employment
    With extensive experience advising on all facets of employment and health and safety law, Joe regularly assists employers and employees with difficult workplace issues, including disciplinary investigations, performance management, restructuring processes and personal grievance claims. Joe also draws on his past experience as a Crown Prosecutor in helping employers to successfully navigate WorkSafe investigations.
  • Sean McIntyre, Christchurch, Litigation
    A specialist in litigation and dispute resolution, Sean advises on a range of commercial disputes, including insurance disputes, regulatory investigations and prosecutions. His expertise involves advising on matters regarding damage caused by natural disasters, contractual liability and claims involving professional negligence such as lawyers and engineers.

  • To Senior Onboarding Administrator – Nicole Malcolm, Christchurch
    Nicole supports the onboarding team with data collection for new and existing clients to support the firm’s AML requirements. After 15 months with Duncan Cotterill, Nicole has been promoted to Senior Onboarding Administrator.
  • To Marketing Coordinator – Rebekah Joyce, Auckland
    Having previously worked as an assistant in the Business Development and Marketing team, and prior to that a receptionist in the Auckland office, Rebekah has demonstrated a strong ability to support internal and external events and internal communications for the firm.
