Workplace health and safety has never been more important, with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requiring businesses to take a pro-active approach to health and safety, and placing an emphasis on accountability for employers and directors. Our specialist health and safety team are leaders in this rapidly changing legal environment. We have extensive experience handling significant health and safety issues for insurers, private and public companies, trade and industry associations, and a wide range of SMEs.

This broad range of industry specific experience gives us the ability to provide expert advice on health and safety obligations of companies, their boards and senior management.

When accidents do occur, we regularly act to defend workplace health and safety prosecutions. Workplace accidents require a rapid and coordinated response. Working across four offices, our specialist health and safety team has the geographic coverage to be on the ground immediately for any health and safety incident wherever our client operates.

We are members of a range of professional organisations, including the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum (Zero Harm), the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRINZ), and the Institute of Directors (IoD). Our health and safety team take an active role in building industry knowledge of health and safety, which has recently included presentations to:
