Yvanca is a litigation and family lawyer in the Nelson office. She specialises in litigation and dispute resolution with a particular focus on Family Law and Trust and Estate disputes. Yvanca also provides advice in general civil disputes, judicial review, and criminal liability.

She regularly acts for clients in proceedings in the Family Court and advises on protection order and childcare arrangements, pre- and post-relationship issues, including contracting out and separation agreements.

Yvanca also provides legal advice relating to claims under the Family Protection Act and the Testamentary Promises Act.

She has particular expertise in the interface between immigration law and criminal liability and regularly advises clients on how to navigate the Court process successfully in this area. In her previous role as a Crown Prosecutor, Yvanca has intimate knowledge of the criminal justice process. Yvanca has expert knowledge about applications for a discharge without conviction for criminal offending.

She provides practical and pragmatic advice to ensure that clients achieve their best outcome. Yvanca appears regularly in the Family Court, District Court, and High Court. She started her career as a Judge’s Clerk in the High Court.

  • Assisting clients with discharge without conviction applications and limited licence applications.

  • Representing clients in judicial review proceedings reviewing decisions made by government organisations.
