Scott is a property, commercial and private client lawyer based in Blenheim. He advises clients in all property, commercial and private client matters with a particular interest in agribusiness, horticulture, forestry, estate planning, property development, and energy & renewables.

With a track record of working on complex domestic and cross-border matters in New Zealand and in the UK, including commercial contract and lease arrangements, attracting investment, acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures, he focuses on providing practical, clear advice to help clients make the most of their businesses and assets.

He acts for clients in a broad range of industries including the agriculture, forestry, energy and renewable, technology and investment funds sectors.

Scott’s expertise includes domestic and cross border acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, corporate structuring, venture capital and private equity transactions, energy and renewable projects, Overseas Investment Office applications as well as a range of other general corporate, property and commercial matters.

  • Overseas Investment – advising on applications by significant foreign investors under the Overseas Investment regime.
  • Forestry – advising various clients on the acquisition and disposal of forestry assets and ETS participation.
  • Investment funds – advising a leading UK investment manager with £7.7 billion of assets under management on the acquisition of another investment manager and its approx. £1.1 billion assets under management*.
  • Property and corporate structuring – advising an American multinational investment company on joint venture arrangements with a leading UK property and asset manager, formed to invest in residential assets*.
  • Venture capital – advising a consortium of clients on their minority investment in a UK nuclear fusion development company*.
