Gareth is an experienced corporate lawyer specialising in corporate and securities law. He advises growth companies on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, shareholder agreements, employee incentive schemes and corporate governance.

He has particularly strong expertise in New Zealand’s technology, aerospace and energy sectors. He regularly advises companies and investors in these sectors on strategic transactions.

Before re-joining Duncan Cotterill, Gareth worked in the UK corporate teams of Osborne Clarke and Pinsent Masons.

  • Advising shareholders of Evnex, a leading supplier of smart EV chargers, on the sale to Adamantem Capital’s Environmental Opportunities Fund.
  • Advising the shareholders of an AI-powered vision systems company on an exit to an overseas purchaser listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

  • Advising innovative aerospace companies Kea Aerospace and Pyper Vision on early stage capital raises.

  • Designing and implementing employee incentive schemes (ESOPs) for a range of technology companies from seed stage through to pre-IPO.

  • Advising Polar Capital LP on the acquisition of JUCY Group in a pre-pack receivership (nominated as finalist in the NZ Law Awards insolvency and restructuring category).
