Duncan Cotterill has announced the promotion of Tanya Wood to partner, further bolstering the strength of its Auckland litigation team.
Tanya joined the Duncan Cotterill team as Special Counsel in 2019 from MinterEllisonRuddWatts, and her promotion to partner reflects her expertise in the areas of construction litigation and insurance law. Tanya regularly acts for insurers on a range of insurance disputes. She also acts for private clients in project and construction dispute matters.
“The construction industry has been under immense pressure from all quarters for many years. I regularly see the consequences of this in the dispute matters that I am instructed on, which arise from a combination of factors ranging from the lack of skilled resource, design and workmanship issues, problems with building materials (both quality and supply) and issues with the consenting process,” Tanya said. “I’m grateful to be able to assist construction clients and the professionals I represent in resolving complex disputes in this challenging climate.”
Tanya’s promotion continues a strong period of growth at Duncan Cotterill, following the opening of the new Southern Lakes office in Queenstown last month.
Jonathan Scragg, Chair of Duncan Cotterill, welcomed Tanya’s promotion as further evidence of a planned succession to the next generation of leadership.
“In her two years on the team, Tanya has brought immense value to her clients dealing with construction, insurance and cyber risk issues, and this appointment is thoroughly deserved. Dependable advice in these areas is crucial in an environment of increased development, and Tanya is a great asset to any organisation in need of a level head, profound knowledge and clear direction,” said Jonathan.
