Samera specialises in Intellectual Property Law with a focus on local and international trade mark protection and enforcement. She regularly provides strategic trade mark and brand protection portfolio advice. She has particular expertise working with small businesses in a variety of sectors. Her local client experience includes food and beverage companies as well as government institutions. Her international client experience includes well-known multinationals in the fast-moving consumer goods, entertainment and pharmaceutical industries.

Enterprising

  • Before joining Duncan Cotterill, Samera spent four and a half years at AJ Park where she assisted clients with trade mark clearance searches, prosecution, opposition, revocation and invalidity proceedings. Prior to that, Samera started her legal career in South Africa where she spent three years in the IP department of Africa’s largest law firm, ENS Africa.
