Senior Associate

Max is a litigator and dispute resolution lawyer, specialising in public law, professional disciplinary claims, and regulatory investigations and prosecutions.

Max has a background in public law litigation, acting for Crown and local government clients in public law, civil law, regulatory, and criminal proceedings.

He has represented public sector clients in responding to judicial review, negligence proceedings, and claims in breach of human rights.  Max has also acted for professional disciplinary bodies and has experience working in-house in public sector agencies.

He has appeared in the High Court, District Court, Commissions of Inquiry, and specialist tribunals, as well as in mediation and arbitration.  Prior to Duncan Cotterill, Max’s role included criminal prosecution on behalf of the Crown.

  • Advising insured professionals in responding to complaints to disciplinary bodies and associated disciplinary proceedings.
  • Acting for Crown agencies in responding to claims of breach of human rights, statutory duties, and in tort. 
  • Representing Crown agencies in the Royal Commission into Abuse in State Care.
