Jessie is a corporate/commercial lawyer who regularly advises on business sales and acquisitions, corporate structures and governance, capital raising and a wide range of commercial agreements, including in relation to distribution, supply, manufacturing, franchising, licensing and terms of trade.

With a particular interest in the food and beverage industry Jessie acts for a variety of clients both nationally and internationally, who range from local artisan food producers to larger well known food and beverage brands.

In addition to her New Zealand experience Jessie has worked in house for a large Canadian fast food company, in its real estate and franchising team.

Jessie offers pragmatic and commercially-minded advice and prides herself on her ability to communicate effectively with her clients and build meaningful relationships.

Intellectual Property

In his intellectual property practice, he manages and protects the intellectual property portfolios of a range of New Zealand, Australian and international businesses, assisting with trade mark portfolio protection and strategies, trade marks and licensing, copyright issues and publishing.

In particular, Scott manages local and international trade mark clearance and registration programmes for domestic and foreign clients and associates, in particular from the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom.



Commercial & Corporate

Scott’s commercial and corporate practice consists of assisting clients with corporate structuring (including shareholder agreements and constitutions), capital raising, joint ventures and commercial contracting.

He also assists a number of government entities and not-for-profit clients with their property and commercial procurement and contracting.

Charities, Not-For-Profit and Families Office

In addition to being an experienced trustee and not-for-profit governor himself, Scott advises a number of trustees and organisations on their duties and responsibilities as governors.

 

He also assists a number of high-net-worth families with their structuring, trust management and private investment portfolios.

 

Scott leads the firm’s not-for-profit practice and feels privileged to assist some of the most iconic and some of the newest charities and not-for-profit entities in New Zealand, including IHC New Zealand Incorporated, New Zealand Red Cross, Barnardos, Deaf Aotearoa, Student Job Search and United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand.
