Is this the start of NZ’s next gold rush?

We’re proud to have assisted Santana Minerals Limited with its NZX foreign exempt listing which launched on July 25th, 2024.

Santana Minerals, an Australian mining company, recently unveiled a groundbreaking gold discovery with its Bendigo-Ophir Gold Project in Central Otago.

With an estimated revenue of NZ$4.4 billion over the mine’s lifespan, based on the current gold price of NZ$3900 per ounce, this project could be the most significant single gold discovery in New Zealand in four decades.  The project is currently expected to recover 110,000 ounces of gold annually, based on a 10 year mine life.

The project will leverage local infrastructure, with no need for fly-in, fly-out staff. Cromwell’s 8000-strong labour pool, main road access, and proximity to Queenstown International Airport are significant advantages. The mine is also well located to access clean, green energy from the Clyde Dam and fresh water from Lake Dunstan.

Partner Matt Yates and Solicitor Katie Read from the Duncan Cotterill Wellington office assisted Santana Minerals with its NZX listing.

Look out for Santana Minerals on the NZX with the stock ticker SMI.
